How often should ear wax be removed?

For most people, ear wax does not need routine removal.

Removal is only recommended when symptoms occur.

However, some individuals are more prone to build-up and may benefit from regular ear checks every 6–12 months, particularly if they:

  • Wear hearing aids
  • Regularly use ear plugs or earphones
  • Naturally produce excess wax
  • Have an occupation that causes build up
